UNDERSTANDING MISSION (4)

The Life of a Missionary (1)

MUST BE BORN AGAIN

What life is expected of one who is called of God to discipled others for Christ?

Is mission for everyone who desires for it and have burden for souls?

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. " John 3:3

When Jesus confronted Nicodemus with this statement, he was already a spiritual leader, member of Jewish Council and a teacher of the Mosaic Laws--versatile in all that pertain to this life and hereafter. But to Christ, he was unqualified as far as God's standard is concern. He was merely a professional Rabbi who is unworthy to handle issues pertaining to life and godliness.

Sinon was already an Elder of the Church in Samaria; having passed through the basics of repentance and baptism. And he was on the missionary list of Philip--following him everywhere. Yet, Peter confronted him: "You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.” Acts 8:21-23

Obviously, Philip couldn't noticed that this committed missionary (Simon) has no part in the gospel assignment. Why? HIS HEART IS NOT RIGHT BEFORE GOD.

Brethren, I have met numbers of men who became leaders and pastors by circumstances. Sometimes, they happened to be the only learned in their community and as such they handed church to them to lead. At other time, some were the only punctual member, therefore they automatically become 'honourary' leader over God's people. In other cases, some because of their social status have inherited church leadership.

Permit me to tell you that many today are professional missionary. They are into the Kingdom Business because of side attractions, bogus renumeration and suitable location of the mission field and of course constant promise of mission support and other stringe benefits.

No one can make meaningful impact on the precarious and volatile hearts of men without developing first God's heart for men.

Fruitfulness and Unfruitfulness in the mission field is first traceable to the inward spiritual life of the missionary. The complaints of unconducive environment and hard-hearted men could be dealt with easily if the men that bear this precious seed has a clean hands and a pure heart. Those whose heart has not be sold to vanity and deceitfulness of men.

It is important first to consider the harvesters before venturing into the harvest. The souls of men are precious to God than to allowed it to be tossed by frivolous man.
