IS THE STORY OF ALHAJI WASIU AYINDE BARRISTER'S CONVERSION TO CHRISTIANITY REALLY TRUE?
"Giving thanks unto the Father, who made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; who delivered us out of the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love." — Colossians 1:12-13
Yesterday, I stumbled upon a TikTok video about the conversion of Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde to Christianity. The creator of the video, who is also an Alhaji, was pleading with fellow Muslims to appeal to Wasiu (a popular Fuji musician in Nigeria) to return to the Islamic fold. He urged his audience not to allow this to happen, just as it occurred with Alhaji Ayuba (another popular Fuji musician who is now a Christian). However, since I have not accessed a verified source regarding his conversion, I had my reservations. Even now, I have not found a reliable source to confirm this information.
Today, while riding a bus whose driver played one of Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde's albums, I heard one of the tracks in which he sang: "AANU MO RI GBA, ADE ORI OKIN. KI ṢE MIMO SE. OMO ALADE ALAFIA. KINIUN EYA JUDAH. GBONGBO IDILE JESE..." (Translation: "I am a recipient of mercy. The crown of the peacock. I was never perfect. The Son of Peace. The Lion of the tribe of Judah. The root of Jesse..."). He produced this album as far back as 2020. As soon as I heard this song, my heart connected with the video I saw yesterday about this man's conversion.
I became convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that this man has truly encountered Christ. Do the themes in these songs relate in any way to Islam? The concepts of mercy, imperfection, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, and the root of Jesse all lack roots in Islam. They are purely and instinctively reflective of someone who has had a definite encounter with Christ.
Sincerely, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde's journey of faith in Christ began some time ago, and he has chosen to let it mature before making it public.
As of the time of this writing, I still cannot confirm the veracity of this claim. However, it is certain that this man, based on his various songs and sounds over time, has shown us that he has encountered the One who shed His blood for the redemption of humanity.
Welcome, sir, to the fold. You are in the right place.
This encounter could not have taken place without human intervention. Some must have patiently labored tirelessly for this man to see His Savior. May you never lose your reward.
To King Wasiu Ayinde, be careful not to fall into the wrong fold—those angels of darkness parading themselves as light. Be equally careful not to seek public applause for your decision. The fire within you can easily be quenched by irreverent people-pleasers. Look only unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
To my readers, TODAY, IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS.
