LEAVE MR. LOT ALONE

 LEAVE MR. LOT ALONE

Terah took Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife, and they went forth together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go into the land of Canaan, but when they came to Haran, they settled there. The days of Terah were 205 years, and Terah died in Haran. Genesis 11:31-32

Apparently, Terah; Abram's father must have had some inner conviction and personal drive to leave the Ur of Chaldeans. He thought of the Canaan as the best destination. And obviously, he told his brethren he was going to Canaan. Unfortunately, he was unable to make it to his desired place. You know the situation when your expectations lie below your situation. The reality contradicts the dreams. Circumstances must have led him to settle for Haran. Sincerely, most people die in Haran on their way to Canaan. Ask most Israelites who left Egypt. If we could ask Moses, we would realise that the road to Canaan would consume most of the wayfarers. God must help us greatly never to stop the journey halfway.

Immediately, after the death of Terah, God gave Abram an instruction: "Now the LORD said to Abram, "Go from your country, your family, and your father's house to the land that I will show you." Genesis 12:1. The instructions were explicit and specific:

1. Go from your country

2. Go from your family

3. Go from your father's house

Sincerely, Abram was to take nothing from Haran except his wife. However, "Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions that they had accumulated, and the people that they had acquired in Harran, and they set out for the land of Canaan. They came to the land of Canaan." Genesis 12:5. So aside from his wife, Abram equally took Lot (a family member) along with him. This decision negates the instructions of God, to leave the family behind him. This deviant decision was not without its consequences. Abram fell out of favour with God; even in the land of Canaan he experienced famine and had to go down to Egypt for help. And he almost lost his wife to Pharaoh except for God's mercy.

So Abram made Lot rich in flocks, herds and tents. But, heaven has been locked against this man. Lot experienced all the good things of this life, but he has no glimpse of the spiritual experiences and encounters Abram had. He was following a spiritually rich man, but he was full of anger and jealousy. He was with a man driven by God. But he was driven by personal desire and ambition to succeed at all costs.

Brother, you're not the saviour of men. Christ is. When God is not helping a man, don't say a word of peace to him. When God decides to punish a man, don't attend his pity party. When God declared a man wanted, never let him be a guest in your house.

Most of the Lot we take along as prayer partner, business associate, intimate friend, a family counsellor, an indispensable fellow are men whose presence in our lives can shut the heavens over us. They are men who allow our dreams and visions to linger indefinitely. These mixed multitudes we call prayer partners are genuinely destiny delayers and vision erasers. They allowed you circles around dreams without reaching fulfilment.

Only when the Lot left would God again visit Abram and open his eyes to the innumerable blessings that He has for him:  "After Lot had departed from him, the LORD said to Abram, "Lift up now your eyes, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward. All the land that you see I will give to you and to your descendants forever. I will make your descendants like the dust of the earth, so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants could also be numbered. Arise, and walk throughout the land across its length and its width, for I will give it to you." So Abram moved his tent and came and settled by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built an altar to the LORD there." Genesis 13:14-18

Imagine, it was only after Lot left that Abram could engage in meaningful movement.

Please, allow this Lot to go. Let your dreams come true. Let your home experience peace and joy. May the heavens open again unto you.

If you're too fearful to speak to Lot, speak to God about him. He will drive him away from you.

Enjoy your peace in 2025.

    1. When you examine the character traits of Lot, you can understand what was in his heart. Like Oprah, they can't go far with us. They are like mixed multitudes who are fascinated by our testimonies but aren't ready to experience the God we serve.

Sincerely, there is no need for reconciliation because there was never a fight or discord. The only issue is that we stand in a different world and must avoid the mistake of taking them as brothers. They are simply not ready for our journey; they only need us to serve them.

  7. It's unfortunate how this often repeat itself over and over again among us. The land we fail to take and the people we fail to drive out today are sure to be thorns in flesh to us later.

May God have mercy on us.
