THE CHURCH IN A CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY (9)
Heavenly minded with Twisted focus.
"Write this to the angel of the church in Sardis: "Here is a message from the one who has the seven spirits and the seven stars. "I know what you do. People say that you are alive, but really you are dead. Wake up! Make yourselves stronger before what little strength you have left is completely gone. I find that what you do is not good enough for my God. [3] So don't forget what you have received and heard. Obey it. Change your hearts and lives! You must wake up, or I will come to you and surprise you like a thief. You will not know when I will come. Revelation 3:1-3
The problem with today's church as was Sardis' church is the believe that she is alive. But she is really dead. She has a good structure, a gallerian edifice, a museum of giants and heavenly minded saints. But unfortunately, she is dead. The verdict of eternal is YOU ARE DEAD.
A dead is one who is insensitive to pain, plight and challenges of the living. Dead doesn't participate in the affairs of the living. He is oblivious to the activities to sustain the continuity of the living.
Today's, some of our Christian brothers and sisters are callous to the events around and within their workplace. Cheating, corruption, unfair treatment goes on unabated at our fingertips yet we are unperturbed. We either posit that we are unaware or isn't any of our business.
The wicked men in their objectives and pursuit of territorial advancement and acquirement has reduced Christians to helpless beggars who must not raise their voices or resent against their ungodly actions. They threatened us with termination of appointment, lack of promotion, marginalisation and neglect of our businesses if we dare raise any eyebrow.
Today, sin and wickedness has been grossly demystified that only few Christians could sense the imminence of Christ's coming in the midst of coldness and lukewarmness.
Giving money for promotion. Manipulating figures to sustain our seat and positions. Helping our children to pass various examinations and host of others has been reduced to just an appropriate and godly incentives to help ourselves.
If we are not careful and prayerful as Christians, we might remain a virgin waiting for the coming of the Master. But we might be the foolish one who would only start preparing when the Master is already at the door.
May God help us that we might not loose focus of where we are going ultimately.
