THE CHURCH IN A CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY

THE CHURCH IN A CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY

Running a Christian Business

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16

In Nigeria and in some nations of the world, corruption has become an institution--a stronghold that has become a cancerous and deadly sting. For a business to be established and survive in Nigeria economy there is the greater tendency that it must lean and thrive on the wings of corruption.

If a pastor wants promotion or to be posted to 'good' church by the leaders, he must be a good boy who knows how to rub and wet the hands of his leaders.

If you want your business registered and duly certified by the government you must activate it with money.

If you want to go to the next level/grade in your profession, you can't pretend not to 'know' the leaders and help them present your case to the king. Else, your file disappeared into nowhere.

You can have your tax reduced and enjoy rebate in your utilities if you can obtain the favour of the concerned authorities with money.

If you violate any of government rules that attract penalties, you can enjoy the sweet fellowship of the agent with fees without government receipt.

Gone are the days when visitors comes to you and been offered what you have. Today, they make their demands.

Today, private and government workers don't depend on their  'epileptic' salary. They use their platform to make money at all cost. Imagine a class teacher asking his pupil to press on their parents to buy phone for him.

Even a security man at the gate will take purgatory offering to facilitate your quick appointment.

Everywhere. Anywhere. Here and there, corruption has become a norm and inseparable part of our communal existence.

Corruption has become so demistifed that you can't and may not see anything spiritually wrong with it.

You don't need to directly engage in it. People can help you do it.

Why do Christian parents registered their children in 'miracle' centre to make result at once?

Why do Christian parents wants their children be in university at age 10?

Seriously, we are generation of them that are destroying the future on the altar of immediate.

Jesus asks the Christian to LET THEIR LIGHT SO SHINE BEFORE MEN...

Are you a light in your business?

Can God direct people to you?

Is there any testimony from the public that you stand for Christ in your business?

If you're scared about corrupt society and resolve that no one can play Christianity this evil-saturated society. You may have to think of Daniel and his three Hebrews friends. How they stood against evil pronouncement and would not defiled themselves with good things that the corrupt government offered them.

Are we indeed ready and prepared for heaven as Christians?

Think about this and the Lord grant you understanding.
