 THE MISSION OF THE MISSIONARY


The main aim of missionary is to reach out to souls. Yet, he must study and understands the means of reaching them. 


Some of the means of reaching the souls of men include: 


✓ Meeting their physical needs by providing them with food, clothing and shelter 

✓ Engage in professional work among the people. For instance, a missionary can volunteer to be a school teacher, a medical practitioner and host of other services as the situation demands. 


However, a missionary can be overwhelmed by these charities and volunteering works so as to forget that his main focus is to bring souls to Christ. This unconscious act has led many missionaries astray from the path of the ultimate Great Commission. 


"Demas has deserted me because he loves the things of this life and has gone to Thessalonica..." 2 Timothy 4. 10 


Demas left the present world when he tasted of the goodness of Christ. He became a missionary to bring others to taste of the goodness of Christ. Unfortunately, he became entangled again in the affair of this life when he was fascinated by the varieties he can enjoy and glean from from the world. 


I have heard and seen many missionaries who have been enveloped by others things of this life and lost sight of what was their original pursuit. 


A missionary must guide jealously his original call and not be derail by charity and others means and forget that he has been called to bring souls to the knowledge of Christ.

I woke up this morning reading a lot of social media posts about the selected dates and days for the ORO festival in the part of the country where I live. ORO is a secluded cultic 'religious' activity. Traditionally, it involves mature males and initiated participants. Women are forever banned from witnessing it, except for hearing it from inside (ETI L'OBIRIN FI NGBO OHUN ORO). Nobody reveals the activities in public. You keep what you see and know to yourself. Nobody exchanges pleasantries about what happened the day before in public. During this time, men do all they can, including appearing like the first Adam in the garden. RE: IS THE STORY OF ALHAJI WASIU AYINDE BARRISTER'S CONVERSION TO CHRISTIANITY REALLY TRUE?

Some were ecstatic, praising God for doing such a wondrous thing. However, others opined that such an acclaimed conversion is nothing but a business tactic. They argued that his affiliation with the Celestial Church indicates that he is merely religious and pretentious about his faith in Christ. This group believes that the Celestial Church is not a place to find a true Christian. (Please, wait before you start casting aspersions on anyone.)  The children of Israel came into the Land of Promise as a conglomerate of twelve tribes. They needed unity to reach that point. But once they arrived in Canaan, each tribe had to take possession of its own inheritance. What you take is what you get. At this stage, collective effort would not suffice—each tribe needed to claim and secure its portion for future generations.
