THE EXPECTANT CRY THAT UNLOCKS THE CLOSED WOMB

 "So it was, year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, that she provoked her; therefore she wept and did not eat... Hannah was in deep anguish, crying bitterly as she prayed to the LORD." — 1 Samuel 1:7,10

The birth of Samuel was not an ordinary birth. Samuel emerged from what appeared to be an impossible situation. His story reminds us that when God opens what He has closed, no power can stop His purpose.

The Bible clearly states:

"But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb."

— 1 Samuel 1:5

Hannah was not childless because she lacked a womb. She was not suffering from infertility in the ordinary sense. Her womb existed, but it was shut. The issue was not absence but closure. What she needed was not replacement but divine intervention.

Many people today are in a similar situation. Their destinies are not destroyed; they are temporarily delayed. Their opportunities are not absent; they seem inaccessible. Their blessings are not cancelled; they are awaiting God's appointed time and God's appointed process.

Some doors are not locked by Satan but are held in God's sovereign hands until His purpose is fulfilled. As the Lord declared:

"I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal." -- Deuteronomy 32:39

And again:

"He openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth."

— Revelation 3:7

For years Hannah endured her condition. Yet several things helped to lessen her pain temporarily:

1. Elkanah gave her a double portion.

2. He continually assured her of his love.

3. He comforted her with words, saying, "Am I not better to thee than ten sons?" (1 Samuel 1:8).

These gestures brought temporary relief but could not solve the real problem. Affection could not replace divine intervention. Sympathy could not substitute for answered prayer. Human comfort could not open what God had shut.

Many people today are surviving on temporary substitutes. They have learned to live with situations that God intends to change. They have accepted consolation when they should be seeking transformation. They have embraced coping mechanisms when they should be pressing into God's presence.

Meanwhile, Peninnah continually provoked Hannah. Year after year, the reproach intensified. The pain deepened. The burden became heavier.

Then came the turning point.

A day arrived when Hannah refused another round of temporary consolation. She stopped directing her tears toward her circumstances and carried them to God.

"She was deeply distressed and prayed to the LORD and wept bitterly."

— 1 Samuel 1:10

That moment changed everything.

The same tears that had previously expressed frustration became tears of intercession. The same pain that had weakened her became fuel for prayer. The same burden that had oppressed her became the reason she sought God with her whole heart.

Hannah could have spent her life blaming Peninnah.

She could have blamed Elkanah.

She could have become bitter against God.

She could have sought ungodly alternatives.

She could have retaliated against those who hurt her.

But instead, she prayed.

And prayer unlocked what years of sorrow could not unlock.

The Psalmist declared:

"I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears."

— Psalm 34:4

Jeremiah echoed the same truth:

"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."

— Jeremiah 33:3

Beloved, where are you directing your tears?

Why waste your pain on bitterness?

Why spend your strength assigning blame?

Why settle for temporary relief when God offers lasting restoration?

Why remain angry with people who cannot solve what only God can change?

Your "closed womb" may represent many things:

- A delayed breakthrough.

- A struggling ministry.

- A stagnant career.

- An unanswered prayer.

- A troubled marriage.

- A burdened family.

- A spiritual drought.

- A vision that appears impossible.

Whatever it represents, remember this: what God has permitted for a season, He is able to open in a moment.

The God who remembered Hannah has not changed.

The God who opened Sarah's womb (Genesis 21:1-2), remembered Rachel (Genesis 30:22), delivered Joseph from prison (Genesis 41:14), restored Job's fortunes (Job 42:10), and raised Lazarus from the dead (John 11:43-44) is still working today.

Your situation is not beyond His reach.

Your delay is not your denial.

Your closed door is not your final destination.

The key remains in the hands of the Almighty.

Therefore, arise and seek Him afresh. Refuse to settle for substitutes. Refuse to make peace with spiritual stagnation. Refuse to allow pain to drive you away from God when it can drive you deeper into His presence.

Like Hannah, pour out your soul before the Lord.

The womb that God closes for a season can be opened by His mercy in a moment.

And when He opens it, your Samuel will come forth—a testimony that will announce His glory to generations.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I come before You with every burden, delay, disappointment, and closed door in my life. Like Hannah, I pour out my soul before You today. Lord, remember me according to Your mercy. Open every door You have ordained for my destiny. Remove every barrier standing against Your purpose for my life. Turn my tears into testimonies, my waiting into rejoicing, and my sorrow into songs of praise. Let every closed womb, every delayed blessing, and every suspended purpose receive divine visitation. Grant me grace to seek You earnestly until Your perfect will is established in my life. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
