THE CHURCH IN A CONTEMPORARY WORLD (4)
Do you believe at all?
"Then what baptism did you experience?” he asked. And they replied, “The baptism of John. Paul said, “John’s baptism called for repentance from sin. But John himself told the people to believe in the one who would come later, meaning Jesus.” Acts 19. 3-4
Seriously, I don't know what's going on. Are we really living by biblical injunction or driven by circumstances and worldly injunctions?
You're a Christian brother/sister even a leader in your church. You come to your workplace by 10.00am but you signed 7.00am. Who are you deceiving?
Been a Christian parent, and yet you do not see anything wrong in examination malpractices. You don't have time to monitor your children progress while in the school, but now you're running around spending recklessly to ensure he/she secures admission into Higher Institution at all cost. You're driving him/her to 'miracle centre' where he can make the result without labour. Are you sure you can guarantee his/her secured future?
You stealthy pass your offering (bribe) to facilitate your promotion and reduced your tax. Are you sure you've been rightly promoted?
This is a child you know has no ability, yet you want him read Medicine, Law, Pharmacy in the University. You're spending beyond your means even borrowing to navigate your way because you need the pride of been a father/mother to a Doctor, Lawyer and Pharmacist. The truth is this, God used the foolish things of this world to confound the wise.
You're a pastor and yet demanding from your friends if Jesus is truly coming back. You're only representing your family in the pastorate not Jesus.
How can you be comfortable with manipulation of figures, telling lies at will, changing records without remorse. Yet, you're claiming it is work's demand. Do you remember heaven at all?
It is high time we began to ask ourselves if really we are in the faith of Jesus or limited to John's experience of repentance. Have we really be sanctified and washed in the blood? Are we truly trusting in Jesus's grace or relying on our failing strength?
Check your faith friend.
